No Sympathy Given

(the fool in the photo is named Marvell Weaver)

Like my grandma used to say, “Idle hands is the devil’s playground.”

Okay so this lil’ buckaroo decided to follow the footsteps of his peers and get involved in this dangerous game called The Knockout Game. For those of you that don’t know what it is, it’s basically a game that some bored-ass teenagers came up with where they walk up to random strangers and knock them out with one punch. It’s supposed to be funny but the only problem with this “joke” is that the only ones that are laughing are the fools that are doing it. And to add insult to injury, the teenagers are now using Tasers instead of their fists to hurt their victims.

But the “tee hee hee” in this case is that Mr. Marvell Weaver walked up on the wrong person to play The Knockout Game with. On that particular day, a man (who chooses to remain unidentified) was standing at a bus stop, waiting for his six-year old daughter. Marvell Weaver decided to attack the man with a Taser but crazy part is that the Taser didn’t even work. But wait! The story gets even crazier:

Not only did the Taser not worked, but the victim pulled out his gun in self-defense and shot the Marvell TWICE. Marvell survived but now he’s serving one year in jail for his attack on the unidentified victim.  It lets me know that the actions of Marvell and many other teenagers that are playing The Knockout Game, is the very main reason why it’s gonna be hard to demolish the ‘Stand Your Ground’ law.

Let me be real: If you take your behind out here in the streets and start looking for trouble, you will find it very quickly. I’m glad that God spared this young boy’s life, giving him a chance to get act together. But if this ‘Knockout’ foolishness doesn’t come to a screeching halt, there’s gonna be a couple of dead teenagers scattered abroad the United States of America.

I can’t speak for anyone else but as far as I’m concerned, there are some questions that have yet to be answered. I couldn’t help but to ask myself, “Where are his parents? Do they not know that their son has been terrorizing the neighborhood? Do they not care? Are they too busy living their own life? Did they just give up on him? Are they out there making more babies? When will this nonsense stop?”

All of us need to come together and think of a plan to reach the youth and shape them into respectable human beings. If the parents don’t wanna do the work of raising their young men and women into respectable adults, let’s try to do something to show them that we do care about them. Let’s brainstorm and figure out what we can do to keep them out of the streets and out of trouble. Something has to get done because otherwise, the future of the youth will be destroyed. They will either be in jail or in the grave.

It’s a good thing that Marvell got a second chance at life and I’m pretty sure that when he gets his tail outta jail, he’ll have his act together, especially since The Knockout Game is now considered a FELONY due to the severity of the crime. But of course, you’re gonna get that one knucklehead who thinks that he’s untouchable and that’s gonna be the one that loses his life. And once you’re dead, you’re dead. There are no second chances after death. And if Lil’ Jay Jay gets killed because he tried to knock out a total stranger for fun, you already know what’s gonna take place:

1. His mama is gonna get on camera, crying the blues over Jay Jay (“oh Lawd, my baby!”) because he got his brains blown out by a dude that he tried to test.

2. His family and friends are gonna get on camera and say, “Jay Jay was such a good person. He was always smiling and he had never had a bad word to say about anybody. He did well in school and was talking about going to college.”

This picture is always painted about someone when they pass away but we all know that sometimes, that’s not the case. Sometimes, the real deal is that Jay Jay was hell on two legs while he was on earth and he started trouble everywhere he went. So his luck ran out and now he’s gone. In other words, the youth need to understand that nothing good comes outta being in those streets. In order to live a long and prosperous life, their focus needs to be on the things that will take them further in life.
